ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. , June 11 /PRNewswire/ -- National Air Cargo announced today that it has received Transportation Security Administration (TSA) approval to operate a Certified Cargo Screening Facility at the Willow Run Airport in Ypsilanti, MI. The newly designated facility will help relieve congestion of the screening for domestic and international air cargo shipments at Detroit Metropolitan Airport and other airports in southeastern Michigan .

Currently one hundred percent of cargo loaded on narrow body aircraft and fifty percent of wide body aircraft is required to be screened. The United States Congress has mandated that by August 2010 one hundred percent of all domestic and international cargo on wide body passenger aircraft must be screened.
"National Air Cargo has all of the relevant experience to operate a screening facility to ensure that domestic and international air cargo is thoroughly and safely inspected prior to boarding passenger aircraft," McAllister continued.
"The cargo screening facility at Willow Run will assist in supporting the federal government's air commerce infrastructure and is critically important to maintaining a safe and secure global supply chain," McAllister concluded.
