Company Fined In Lt. Gov.'s Plane Crash
CHEROKEE COUNTY, S.C. --
More than three years after the South Carolina lieutenant governor's near-fatal plane crash, the Federal Aviation Administration has fined the company that rebuilt his plane's engine.
Lt. Governor Andre Bauer was flying with another pilot in May 2006 when the plane went down in Cherokee County. Both survived with serious injuries.
Just recently, FAA investigators concluded that in four cases, bolts had been improperly installed on the engine that was put in Bauer's plane.
The company, America's Aircraft engines out of Tulsa, Oklahoma denies the charges.
The FAA fined the company $700. They have the right to appeal the federal complaint.
