Small Plane Crashes In Southwest Wash.
WASHOUGAL, Wash. --
Federal and local officials were investigating a plane crash that happened Thursday night in southwest Washington.
The plane went down at about 7:30 p.m. in Skamania County, authorities said.
Deputies said a 70-year-old man was piloting the small plane, which took off from a private airstrip near Salmon Falls Road, turned east and then crashed between Wantland Road and Mabee Mines Road.
Crews were on the scene Thursday night trying to pull the man from the wreckage.
A LifeFlight helicopter was called to the scene of the wreck to take the man to a hospital.
The Federal Aviation Administration was also investigating the crash.
