Oct. 16--TOKYO -- All Nippon Airways Co. said Friday it will continue to collect fuel surcharges on international flights for two months from December due to high fuel prices.
For tickets issued between Dec. 1 and Jan. 31, 2010, ANA will issue a one-way surcharge of 7,000 yen on flights between Japan and Europe or North America, 4,000 yen on routes between Japan and Hawaii, and 1,500 yen on flights between Japan and China, which are comparable to the prices issued in October and November when ANA resumed such fuel surcharges.
Starting in October, the airline's system of collecting surcharges on fuel prices is being reviewed every two months to reflect market changes.
Japan Airlines Corp., meanwhile, has already decided on its fuel surcharges until December as its system of collecting fuel surcharges is reviewed every three months.
ANA reinstated fuel surcharges for the October to November period, and JAL followed suit in resuming fuel surcharges for the three months from October, due to a rebound in average fuel prices.
The moves came after Japan's two major airlines had scrapped the surcharges on international flights from July to September on declines in fuel prices.
