JIA Boosts Parking For Thanksgiving

Nov. 24, 2009

--

Travelers flying out of Jacksonville International Airport for the Thanksgiving holiday will be able to take advantage of a special parking lot at the airport.

The aviation authority is opening its Economy Lot 3 at noon on Tuesday, Nov. 24. It will remain open through Dec. 4. Travelers can park in that lot during this time for a flat fee of $25, payable with cash or credit card upon entry.

The airport's other two economy lots cost $6 per day. The special lot can save travelers money for trips longer than four days.

Economy Lot 3 is used for special events and holidays, and operates on a first-come, first-served basis. It may also close without notice. Free shuttles will be available to the terminal. Vehicles that remain in Economy Lot 3 after Dec. 4 will be towed at the owner's expense.

The airport authority is advising passengers to arrive at least two hours before their flight to allow extra time to find parking, in case the a first choice for parking isn't available.

Other parking options at the airport include the daily surface lot ($10/day), the daily garage ($12/day) and the hourly garage ($16/day). All prices include tax.

Airport visitors who are meeting family and friends are urged to use the hourly garage, if available, or wait in the free courtesy lot until they arrive.
