Malaysia Airlines Selects Pratt & Whitney PW4000 Advantage70(TM) Engines in $680 Million Deal

Malaysia Airlines has selected Pratt & Whitney's PW4170 Advantage70 engine to power 17 new Airbus A330 aircraft.

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, July 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Malaysia Airlines has selected Pratt & Whitney's PW4170 Advantage70(TM) engine to power 17 new Airbus A330 aircraft. The agreement, which includes 15 passenger and two freighter aircraft, would be valued at approximately $680 million at list prices. Delivery of the engines will start in 2011. Pratt & Whitney is a United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX) company.

In addition to this agreement, Pratt & Whitney and Malaysia Airlines signed a Memorandum of Understanding to form an engine nacelle repair facility in Malaysia via a joint venture in December 2009. The new facility will become part of the Pratt & Whitney Global Service Partner network.
