Greeley-Weld County Airport is one of 50 in Colorado to receive a grant approved by Gov. Bill Ritter on Monday.
The airport was awarded $3,947, which will combine with $3,947 of local funding and $150,000 of federal funding to contribute $157,894 toward the reconstruction of the taxi lane.
The Fort Collins-Loveland Municipal Airport will receive two state grant awards, according to a release from the governor's office. The first state award, worth $250,000, will combine with $220,000 of local funds and $8 million in federal funds to go toward runway rehabilitation and pavement maintenance. The second state award is worth $14,650 and is expected to be matched with $14,650 in local funds and no federal funds to pay for an aviation management internship.
The grants, ranging from $4,000 to $250,000, are funded by state aviation fuel tax revenues, while leveraging local and federal dollars. A total value of $95.67 million will be awarded for various airport projects.
"This is an excellent program," Gov. Ritter said. "These airports are important to our economic development strategies, our quality of life, our recreational access, and our overall mobility. Because the projects will also help boost local economies, this is a win-win situation."
