Cessna says 95 Independence workers to be laid off

Mar. 25--WICHITA -- Cessna Aircraft officials said 95 workers at the company's Independence, Kan., plant were told today they would be laid off.

The company said in a statement that the layoffs are "part of the plan developed last year to align production rates with market demand."

The company said the layoffs do not affect its previously announced 2010 delivery schedule.

The Independence plant manufactures the company's single-engine airplanes and the Mustang business jet.
