Apple Vacations & Sun Country Airlines Announce New Air Service From Lansing

LANSING, Mich., June 30 /PRNewswire/ -- The Capital Region Airport Authority today welcomed new air service announcements made by Apple Vacations and Sun Country airlines to provide non-stop flights again from the Capital Region International Airport (LAN) to Cancun Mexico, and new scheduled air service to Jamaica, Las Vegas, Orlando and Fort Myers beginning December 22, 2010.

"This is really exciting news for Michigan air travelers," said Robert Selig, Executive Director of the Capital Region Airport Authority. "Apple Vacations was very successful offering vacation packages to Cancun from Lansing through the spring of this year, and now by offering more flights on additional days of the week to Cancun soon and adding new weekly service to Jamaica, Lansing will be a hot international launching spot again for Michigan travelers during the winter and spring of 2010-2011."

Apple vacation packages and Sun Country flights to Florida and Las Vegas can be booked beginning today by any travel agent, on-line through most popular travel search engines including Orbitz and Expedia, or through the newly opened Fly Lansing Concierge Travel Center directly by calling (517) 321-4688.

In December of 2009 through April 2010, Apple Vacations flew 15 non-stop flights from Lansing to Cancun, Mexico. The new flight schedule means Apple Vacations will fly 93 total international flights from Lansing in the 2010-2011, with 74 flights to Cancun and 19 flights to Jamaica.

All of the new service will be provided on 737-800 jets that seat 162 passengers. Sun Country will offer low-price promotional airfares starting at:

-- $89 each way to the Orlando International airport for the new service scheduled to fly on Wednesday and Saturday from Lansing from December 2010 through May 2011, -- $99 each way on flights to Fort Myers on Monday, Thursday and Friday, and -- $109 each way to Las Vegas on Thursday and Sunday.
