Denver International Airport Selects Sensis Aerobahn
Airport Surface Management System to Enhance Operational Efficiency at World's Tenth Busiest Airport
EAST SYRACUSE, N.Y., March 8, 2011
EAST SYRACUSE, N.Y., March 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Denver International Airport (DEN) has selected Sensis Corporation's Aerobahn® as their new airport surface management system. Sensis Aerobahn combines airside operational information, such as flight schedules, with the exact location and identification of aircraft and vehicles on the surface of the airport and surrounding airspace for a real-time, comprehensive view of surface operations. Aerobahn will provide DEN and airport stakeholders, including airlines and ancillary service providers with a common surveillance and communications platform that will enable them to enhance the operational efficiency of the airport's ramp areas, facilitate more efficient deicing practices in all weather conditions and improve the overall efficiency of the world's tenth busiest airport. At Denver, each authorized airline and service provider, such as deicing operators, will have access to the browser-based Aerobahn service with the ability to customize Aerobahn to their operational needs.
"With Aerobahn, users at Denver will have a powerful tool to more effectively manage their operations during times of irregular operations such as snow," said Ken Kaminski, vice president and general manager of Sensis Air Traffic Systems. "The improved situational awareness in all weather conditions means users will know the precise location of aircraft at all times and have the ability to set event alerts, such as time elapsed after deicing, for more accurate, proactive management of critical situations."
Users can tailor Aerobahn's tools to best meet specific job requirements by customizing the views and maps, such as adding annotations, and using the "picture-in-picture" capability to monitor a specific region and the entire airport simultaneously. Users can also observe departure queues, view actual arrival demand and contrast the demand with available gates for arriving aircraft. Aerobahn's event alerting capability empowers users to create their own customized filters to more quickly and better identify critical operating conditions and issues such as long on-board delays. All events are recorded for future playback to identify trends, develop new procedures that mitigate delays or similar events in the future and provide justification for process improvements. Aerobahn also provides users with the ability to create their own reports based on numerous variables for detailed analysis of operations.
"Denver is maximizing the value of the collaborative airport surface management system by providing service providers, such as deicing companies, with access to the enhanced situational awareness available from Aerobahn," said Kaminski. "With key stakeholders having access to Aerobahn, Denver will have established a Collaborative Decision Making platform that will result in more efficient operations and reduced emissions at the tenth busiest airport in the world."
Sensis Aerobahn is the most widely deployed airport surface management system in the industry, being used by airlines, airport operators and air navigation service providers (ANSPs) around the world. Aerobahn is the surface management system for the industry's only fully realized collaborative airport surface operations environment at JFK International Airport – where the ANSP (Federal Aviation Administration), airport owner (Port Authority of New York/New Jersey) and authorized airlines all have access to the same data for coordinated operations.
