NEW YORK, May 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Qatar Airways has switched its operations at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport from Terminal 4 to Terminal 8.

Terminal 8 is one of JFK airport's newest and most modern terminals, offering 5-star amenities and services to customers departing, arriving and transiting through New York.

Qatar Airways operates daily scheduled flights between Doha and New York using its Boeing 777 Extended Range aircraft.

Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker said: "Qatar Airways passengers will see a wide range of improved benefits from our flights departing and arriving at New York JFK's Terminal 8. These include a dedicated spacious check-in area, enhanced baggage facilities, as well as a wider selection of restaurants and retail stores.

Qatar Airways has been voted third best airline in the world following the annual Skytrax survey of 18 million international passengers. In the poll, the airline was also voted as having the best Business Class service and catering in the world, as well as being honored as the Best Airline in The Middle East for the fifth consecutive year.

Qatar Airways has orders for 80 Airbus A350s, 60 Boeing 787s and 37 Boeing 777s, with deliveries of the latter having started in November 2007. The airline is one of the customers of the Airbus A380 with five on order and scheduled for delivery from 2012, by which time the New Doha International Airport would have opened.
