TSA To Eliminate Revealing Full-Body Scans

Agents will now review generic images

DENVER --

Full-body scanning machines are now part of the passenger screening routine at Denver International Airport and airports across the country.

Now, after a traveler revolt of sorts, the revealing images will be eliminated over the next few weeks.

Instead, agents will see generic images indicating if there’s something suspicious or if the flier is all clear.

"I think whatever they can do to minimize the amount of invasiveness is a good thing," said passenger Tim Gatlin.

While the public may be pleased, critics say this is a public relations move by the government.

Air safety experts like Steve Cowell say, instead, the TSA needs to spend money on security itself, including better baggage screening and training agents in how to identify suspicious behavior.

"Right now, we still have a lot of holes," Cowell said.

“You want to be safe," passenger Kayla Kelnhofer said. "But you wonder, how much more safe does that really make us?"
