CHICAGO, July 26, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- VivaAerobus, Mexico's ultra low fares airline, announced today their ongoing international expansion with the launch of their new route to Chicago from Monterrey.

The new route will initiate operations this upcoming October 14 with booking already underway, and fares at only US$ 125, total price.

Flights are scheduled to service the route directly from Monterrey to Chicago's Midway Airport and vice versa.

VivaAerobus introduced the low cost model into the Mexican market. The carrier launched operations in 2006 and has been servicing the US market since 2009 with two flights from Monterrey to the cities of Houston and Las Vegas with fares up to 70% below the competition.

The carrier services a total 54 routes of which 2 are to cities in the United States. VivaAerobus' hubs are located in Monterrey, Mexico City, and Guadalajara.

During the five years the carrier has been operating, it has transported 8 and a half million passengers, offering an ultra low cost travel scheme and attaining an average 78% occupancy rate.

VivaAerobus has been reaching the US market since 2009 and with the new Chicago route, now services three international destinations on its roster.
