Porter Airlines load factor up 10.5 points in May
Year-over-year load factor increased 10.5 points to 59.5 per cent in May, from 49 per cent in 2010. Figures for the month show 115.3 million ASMs and 68.6 million RPMs. ASMs grew 18.5 per cent from 97.3 million and RPMs increased 43.8 per cent from 47.7 million versus last year.
"The May numbers are an indication that we are solidifying and building the business on all fronts," said Robert Deluce, president and CEO of Porter Airlines. "Even with significant new capacity and cities being added to the network, Porter is seeing unprecedented results."
Load factor on the high-frequency Toronto City-Montreal route increased nearly five points year-over-year, while maintaining consistent capacity.
"We appreciate the loyalty of our long-time passengers and welcome the many new customers using Porter on this route," added Deluce. "We're committed to earning their business on every flight."
Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., was the latest destination launch for Porter. After an excellent response to new service last month, a third daily flight to Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport is being added June 27.
