Air France-KLM Cargo receives Schiphol accolade

The airline has been recognized for its initiatives on behalf of Schiphol SmartGate Cargo, an integrated approach to goods inspection and its role in the implementation of e-freight.

Air France-KLM Cargo has received the Cargo Award in the latest Schiphol Aviation Awards, sponsored by Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.

The airline has been recognized for its ground-breaking initiatives on behalf of Schiphol SmartGate Cargo, its integrated approach to goods inspection and its pioneering role in the implementation of e-freight.

The awards were presented March 25, by Ad Rutten, executive vice president & COO of Schiphol Group. In keeping with the airport’s drive for sustainability, the event was held in De Arendshoeve, Aalsmeer - the most sustainable green location in the Netherlands; it was attended by 140 guests from the aviation industry.

Each year, Schiphol presents its aviation awards to clients and business partners who have distinguished themselves among all companies at the airport, based on their innovative business management or positive performance.

Commenting on this year’s Cargo Award winner, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol’s Senior VP Cargo, Enno Osinga, says: “Air France-KLM Cargo has been a strong supporter in all our technological initiatives to make Schiphol the cargo airport of preference in Europe.

“The airline’s dedication both to E-freight and the Smartgate project has been constant and highly-effective, and we are glad to have been able to recognize its invaluable support in this very public way.”

This year’s Schiphol Aviation Awards contains seven categories. In addition to Air France-KLM Cargo (Cargo Award), other winners are easyjet (Airline of the Year Europe Award); Arke Fly (Airline of the Year North & South America Award); KLM (Airline of the Year Asia Award); Emirates (Airline of the Year Africa & Middle East Award); KLM Ground Services (Passenger Ground Handling Award); and China Southern Airlines (Most Promising Airline Award - new category). Winners of the regional categories were selected for their punctuality, growth, innovation and marketing effort.
