Green Bay, Wis. -- Jet Air Group, a fixed base operator (FBO) at Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport, has purchased a new piece of equipment that not only improves safety for loading and unloading planes, but also provides an opportunity to expand business at the airport.

“The K-Loader is essentially like a big elevator, with two levels that are used to raise and lower large cargo containers and supplies,” explained Al Timmerman, CEO of Jet Air Group. “It’s designed for use on wide body aircraft and offers several advantages over traditional belt loaders that are angled in order to get cargo on and off planes. The K-Loader has greater stability and is able to handle larger cargo more efficiently than a belt loader.”

The K-Loader is not only being used by Jet Air, but is also available for commercial flights at GRB.

“It’s a competitive advantage for Jet Air and the airport, and it’s also an advantage for large charters, international flights and commercial airlines serving GRB,” stated airport director Marty Piette, A.A.E. “They can load more on the plane and ship less by other methods.”

This fall, the K-Loader has been regularly used for NFL charters flying into and out of GRB. As air traffic continues to pick up, Timmerman sees the K-Loader getting a lot more use.

“It’s an investment in our business,” he said. “We’re confident our customers and the commercial airlines will appreciate the advantages it offers and begin to use it on a regular basis.”
