AeroGround celebrates anniversary in Munich and Berlin

July 5, 2016

AeroGround, Munich Airport’s ground handling company, is celebrating its fifth anniversary in Munich and the first full year of operations by AeroGround Berlin in Schönefeld this year. AeroGround was founded in 2011 as an independent subsidiary of Flughafen München GmbH as part of the reorganization and restructuring of ground handling services. AeroGround now employs around 2,500 people in Munich and Berlin and serves more than 100 airlines from all over the world. The company will celebrate the two birthdays in the summer along with its employees, customers and partners.

Another cause for celebration along with the anniversary is the company's excellent performance: At its home base of Munich, AeroGround has successfully established itself as the market leader and a provider of high-quality, apron-side aircraft and baggage handling services. Since 2013, AeroGround has also been a founding member of the European ground handling network “ground.net” with more than 60 stations in eleven countries.
With the start of business operations at the Berlin-Schönefeld and Berlin-Tegel airports over the past twelve months, the company has established its first handling locations outside Munich and successfully implemented the expansion strategy launched in 2013. In 2016, AeroGround in Munich was also granted certification under the “Safety Audit for Ground Operations” (ISAGO) by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which sets uniform worldwide safety standards for ground handling.

“The past five years have been very successful, marked by continuous development and many changes, backed by a highly committed workforce. This enables us to provide outstanding quality in all of our services," said Siegfried Pasler and Christian Stoschek, the Managing Directors of AeroGround. “We look forward to an equally bright future with our customers, partners and colleagues.”
