Hactl, working with NGO CareER, hosted a disability etiquette seminar and workshop, promoting disability inclusion and inclusive employment on May 29.
The event began with an interactive Braille game and a lip-reading exercise, designed to provide participants with a glimpse into the lives of individuals who are visually and hearing-impaired.
Following the games, CareER shared tips on how to communicate effectively with people with these disabilities, and outlined disability etiquettes that can promote inclusion in the workplace.
Hactl participants found the event stimulating and helpful. Says Walter Tsui, Co-Founder and CEO of CareER, “They clearly recognized the importance of transforming mindsets to promote disability inclusion in the workplace. It is heartening to see companies like Hactl taking proactive steps towards creating a more inclusive and diverse work environment.”
Hactl shares CareER’s view that creating an accessible and accommodating workplace for people with disabilities will enable employers to tap into a large and often underutilized pool of talent, while contributing to a more equitable society.
