Ground Crew Employees Reject Offer, Pearson Strike Continues

According to a spokesman, 98 percent of the workers voted to reject a new contract after turning down an offer by a wide margin in late July.

A four-week long strike being staged by approximately 700 ground crew employees, including baggage handlers, cabin cleaners and others employed by Swissport, will continue at Toronto's Pearson Airport after members of Teamsters Union Local 419 voted to reject the latest offer from their employer.

According to a report from the Candian Press, 98 percent of the workers voted to reject a new contract after turning down an offer by a wide margin in late July.

Terms of the latest offer were not released, according to the report, but the company had said it was optimistic the workers would accept the deal.
