Student, Instructor Escape Injury When Helicopter Crashes

NASHUA - There were no injuries reported yesterday afternoon after a helicopter at Nashua Municipal Airport landed too hard and tipped over onto its side, according to an airport official.

Griffin Dalianis, chairman of the airport's board of directors, said it appears a student pilot and instructor were inside the helicopter at the time and when the student took over control of the helicopter, it dropped quickly and struck the ground in an open field on airport property.

An ambulance was called to the scene but the student and instructor did not require medical attention, Dalianis said. Their names and other details regarding the crash were not available yesterday.

Dalianis said the Federal Aviation Administration and State Department of Transportation will investigate.
