Sweet Aviation Acquires Groundbreaking New Jet

Sweet Aviation’s Vision Jet is just the 25th produced and one of very few available to the public for training and rental.

Fort Wayne, Indiana – Sweet Aviation, a flight training, aircraft rental, and aircraft maintenance company located at Smith Field Airport in Fort Wayne, has added a unique, first-of-its-kind jet to its already diverse and modern fleet. The “Vision Jet,” as it’s called, is the “world’s first single-engine personal jet,” according to Cirrus. It’s designed to be a relatively affordable and convenient alternative to traditional private jets. Sweet Aviation’s Vision Jet is just the 25th produced and one of very few available to the public for training and rental.

The Vision Jet seats seven people, making it the largest aircraft in Sweet Aviation’s fleet, which is owned by Chuck Surack, president of Sweetwater, the number one online retailer of music instruments and audio gear in the U.S. and number two in the world. There are a number of technological and design enhancements that give it a “personal jet” feel — the cabin is pressurized, the seating is spacious and comfortable, and the placement of controls and other nuances is intuitive, to outline just a few examples of the jet’s unique characteristics. What’s more, as with all newer-model Cirrus aircraft, the Vision Jet comes with the patented CAPS® system — which stands for Cirrus Airframe Parachute System®, a built-in parachute that pilots may deploy in case of an emergency.

For approximately the next year, Sweet Aviation will primarily use the jet for training, but down the road intends to use it as a charter jet, once all FAA certifications and approvals are in place. According to Joel Pierce, General Manager and Chief Flight Instructor at Sweet Aviation, “Whether you’re in a pilot seat or passenger seat, the Vision Jet is extremely fun to fly. We’ve already received a lot of inquiries and interest from pilots — locally, nationally, and even internationally — who are either considering buying one or interested in learning to fly it.”

This is the fifth Cirrus in Sweet Aviation’s fleet – they also have one SR22T and three SR20s. Pierce explained, “We’re proud to be a partner with Cirrus — not only as a customer, but also as an official Cirrus Training Center and Cirrus Authorized Service Center. They are an industry leader in aircraft technology and safety, and every product they produce seems to be even better than the last one.”

“Our region has ideal flight training conditions, including flat terrain, seasonal weather, and uncongested skies, so we anticipate that pilots from around the country will be interested in coming to train on our Vision Jet,” continued Pierce. “And we expect the demand for flight time will continue to ramp up this spring and summer.”
