This timed event will test each participant's ability to troubleshoot and repair pitot/static systems. The participants will be required to locate and repair leaks in the pitot/static lines, fittings and / or instruments. Participants will have the option of using DFW Instrument Corporation's fully automated RVSM pitot/static test set, Model DPST-9200A or the digital manually operated pitot/static test set, Model DPST-5000M. A demonstration will be given on both test sets prior to the event. All necessary replacement parts and/or instruments will be available to correct faults. Each participating team will have 20 minutes to troubleshoot two (2) separate faults on their individual pitot / static system as quickly as possible. At the end of the testing period, judges will either PASS or FAIL the system. If the system PASSES in the first attempt, the team's score will be the time used from the allotted 20 minutes. If the system FAILS, scoring will be the time used from the allotted 20 minutes plus an additional 10 minutes. The participants may then elect to try to repair the system again. If the system passes after the second attempt, the team's score will be total time used for both attempts plus five minutes. If the system fails a second time, the team's score will be total time used for both attempts plus 10 minutes.
