Twin Commander Aircraft LLC is developing a set of control column and rudder pedal boots with improved performance compared to the existing boot design. The existing boot is subject to wear and pressurization leaks, and has to be removed and replaced periodically. The new boot will be made of a durable vinyl upholstery material, and tailored more closely to the shape of the control column and rudder pedal stems. It will be attached on the base using double seal rings and a stainless steel bracket that will be screwed into the floor. The top will be attached using a stainless-steel hose clamp. The entire boot will be covered with an outer-layer leather dress boot for appearance and additional wear protection. The leather boot will cover the top hose clamp.
