Ohio-based Collins Aerospace authorized dealer, Winner Aviation, completed and returned to service the first successful completion of the first Premier 1 with the Collins Aerospace Pro Line 21 Airspace Modernization Package. This compliance package installation sets the standard for airspace modernization in today’s business aviation aircraft.

The Pro Line 21 package completed included:

  • Display and Flight Management System Upgrade
  • Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B)
  • Provisionally installed Graphical Weather
  • Synthetic Vision System (SVS)
  • Database Unit (DBU)
  • Provisionally installed Integrated Flight Information System (IFIS)
  • Localizer Performance with Vertical Guidance (LPV)

Neil Simon, Winner Aviation’s Avionics Manager, stated, “as the ADS-B Out requirements become the standard in 2020, many business jet owners are now struggling to find qualified repair stations to meet their needs on time. With this successful Pro Line 21 installation in the Premier 1, Winner Aviation proves we are the market leader in these major integrated avionics upgrades.”

Simon added, “having the Collins Aerospace dealership and maintenance authorization further showcases how we can provide reliable technology at predictable costs. These upgraded aircraft will meet and exceed all requirements for years to come.”

Following the installation, Winner Aviation performed a “squawk-free” test flight and the aircraft was successfully returned to airworthy service.

Why Airspace Modernization Matters

The Next Generation Air Transportation System, or NextGen, is the FAA-led modernization of America's air transportation system to make flying even safer, more efficient, and more predictable. As the steward of America's airspace, the FAA is committed to ensuring that the safest, most efficient airspace system possible exists today and for generations of air travelers to come.

The Collins Aerospace Pro Line 21 integrated avionics system is designed to enhance a wide range of business and commercial and military aircraft. With large, crystal-clear LCD displays and state-of-the-art functionality, it expands aircraft capabilities and improves situational awareness at every phase of flight. And it’s designed to support the latest standards and support the upcoming ADS-B Out mandate.

Pro Line 21 systems are flying on aircraft delivered from the factory and are also available as aftermarket upgrades. Continuous improvements to existing Pro Line 21 systems bring new capabilities as operating requirements evolve. Retrofit packages have also been developed for many aircraft to give a modern "glass cockpit" and add value to the aircraft investment.
