AsBAA Announces the Winners of the Icons of Aviation 2018 and Raises Over US$30,000 for Orbis

The charity event, which was themed, James Bond, Diamonds in the Sky, raised over US$30,000 for AsBAA’s corporate social responsibility projects which include donations to Orbis Flying Eye Hospital.

AsBAA, Asia’s non-profit representative body for the business and general aviation industry (BA/GA) hosted VIPs, industry leaders and around 380 representatives of the industry at its annual charity gala dinner, the Icons of Aviation Awards.

The charity event, which was themed, James Bond, Diamonds in the Sky, raised over US$30,000 for AsBAA’s corporate social responsibility projects which include donations to Orbis Flying Eye Hospital. 


A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the coveted Mike Davis Award, which is a lifetime achievement award presented in the name of the late Mike Davis. AsBAA expressed its sincere gratitude that Ms. Zoe Davis, Mike’s daughter attended the event for the third year and that she recognised its winner Mr. Alan Smith. Zoe said, “the award has really grown over the years to be one that is very meaningful and a great honour for the recipient. Alan Smith has made enormous contributions to the industry and we recognise this in my late father’s name.” AsBAA Chairperson Jenny Lau said, “the Icons of Aviation has grown into a credible and well-attended awards event. We thank our VIPs and sponsors for supporting AsBAA, Orbis and CSR in business aviation. We look forward to hosting the industry once again next year at the Icons of Aviation 2019."

  • Best Management Company – TAG Aviation
  • Best Business Service Provider – JSSI
  • Trailblazer of the Year Award – Sarah Kalmeta, Universal Weather and Aviation and AsBAA Board of Governors.
