The Tempest AT5K resistance tester is a very efficient and effect means to test the internal resistance in all aviation spark plugs. Simply place the spark plug, barrel side down, over the contact post and touch the other lead end to the firing end of the center electrode. If the light is green, the spark plug resistance is below 4kΩ (thousand ohms). If both the green and red lights are on, then the plug is between 4-5kΩ. This is acceptable for serviceable plugs. If only the red light is on, this indicates a resistance value in excess of 5kΩ and the plug should be discarded and replaced.
In response to customer demand for a shorter version of the popular Tempest oil filter, Tempest now offers its Dash II oil filter. It features the magnetic secondary filtration system, the bypass valve PC housing, and higher burst pressure. The Dash II is 5/16 inch shorter than competitive filters. It is currently available as the AA48108-2 and AA48110-2 and is offered in Tempest’s popular six-pack or individually.
Tempest introduces its AA1000 engine preservation system to remove the condensation within Teledyne Continental and Lycoming engines. The patent-pending design utilizes a specifically designed pump that draws outside air through a chamber containing a desiccant material which removes the moisture from the air. Dry air is then pumped into the engine through a hose attached to the oil filler tube. The desiccant material will turn from blue to pink, then needs to be reconstituted through a simple baking process. The material may be reused as many as 20 cycles.
