Elastomer coating

Product From NuSil Technology

R-2183, a low-viscosity silicone elastomer dispersed in xylene, retains elasticity at extremely low temperatures and resists breakdown at elevated temperatures up to 300 C. It is a tough, clear material, great for use as an encapsulant and can also be heat cured into a thin elastomeric film, imparting excellent physical properties. For more information, visit

Ice-phobic silicone coatings

Product From NuSil Technology

NuSil Technology has completed extensive ice adhesion testing and broadened its line of ice-phobic coatings by adding four new products - all room temperature vulcanizing (RTV), one-part cure systems consisting of both fluorosilicone and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) coatings. Ice-phobic coatings are commonly used on aircraft wings, control surfaces, and engines. Current solutions, such as heating systems and chemical de-icing, can be costly and must be used after each exposure, offering only short-term protection. In addition, chemical de-icing is hazardous to the environment and some chemicals have even been banned. The EPA recently increased airport restrictions regarding how much glycol, a hazardous chemical commonly sprayed on aircraft to remove ice, must be captured in order to reduce exposure to the environment. NuSil's line of ice-phobic materials offers a more durable, environmentally friendly alternative that provides long-term protection. Two of the new additions are R-3975 and R-3930 - one-part, fluorosilicone, RTV silicone elastomers for coating, sealing and bonding applications requiring solvent and fuel resistance against fuels such as JP8 and DiEGME. In addition, R-1009 and R-1082 are similar one-part, RTV silicone elastomers for use in ice-phobic applications not requiring fuel or solvent resistance, offering two different cure chemistries: oxime and acetoxy. SCV-2586 low outgasing adhesive

Product From NuSil Technology

NuSil Technology recently added SCV-2586 to its line of Ultra Low Outgassing silicone materials. SCV-2586 is a lightweight adhesive for applications requiring thermal stability and a broad operating temperature range in which volatile condensables and outgassing are a concern. SCV-2586 can be used as a bonding, sealing or potting material in space and electronic applications. It provides radiation resistance, low thermal conductivity, oxidation stability, thermal stability and good ablative characteristics. This elastomer far surpasses industry-standard ASTM E595 and has a total mass loss (TML) of 0.1 percent and collected volatile condensable material (CVCM) of less than 0.010 percent. With a work time of four hours, it offers the convenience of an extended work time, allowing materials to be processed over large surface areas. It is an addition-cure silicone that does not require moisture to cure and has minimal shrinkage and no by-products. Cure time can also be accelerated with heat. Ice Phobic Silicone Coatings

Product From NuSil Technology

NuSil Technology offers ice-phobic silicone coatings that significantly reduce ice adhesion when applied to various aerodynamic surfaces. In extreme environments, ice-phobic fluorosilicone coatings can provide the necessary fuel and solvent resistance. NuSil’s ice-phobic coatings have limited effect on the environment and are robust when exposed to weather, UV, and broad operating temperature ranges.
