Douglas-Kalmar TBL 600 towbarless tractor

Douglas-Kalmar offers the new TBL 600 towbarless tractor designed for handling the A380. The TBL 600 is a larger version of the towbarless tractors incorporating a conventional drive line and a similar aircraft nose landing gear cradle interface assembly. CAN-bus technology is being employed to electronically control the vehicles drive line functions and operation of the aircraft nose landing gear cradle inter-face. Together with its well proven electronically controlled 750 bhp Cummins QSK 19 engine, Clark 16000 series powershift transmission, electro-hydraulic steering system and GSM modem for remote trouble shooting, the TBL 600 is only 400 mm wider and approximately 900mm longer than the current TBL 400 to accommodate the A380's wider and heavier nose landing gear and larger wheels and tires. With its selectable 2 wheel, 4 wheel and crab steering modes it is very manoeuvrable. Although fitted with a larger and refined operators cab, the in-cab layout of controls and mode of operation is similar to other Douglas towbarless tractors.
