See You at Oshkosh

EAA AirVenture July 28-August 3

Big airplanes and small airplanes, helicopters and ultralights, antique and experimental, EAA AirVenture has an aircraft for everyone’s taste. The annual voyage of aviation enthusiasts from around the world is upon us. It’s hard to image this global event has its roots in a local club in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, whose members shared a common interest in restoring and building small airplanes in 1953. Yes this event has grown and changed from the days of it being called a Fly In.

During my first Oshkosh visit decades ago, I was one of many who took a ride in a Breezy. Hopefully some of you recognize the name of this open-air pusher configuration experimental airplane. This year a 50-year anniversary of the Breezy will be celebrated. From Breezys to jets, the United States Air Force will conduct its first-ever aerobatic air show at Oshkosh August 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.

Countless educational seminars, workshops, exhibits, and forums are available every day. Take a walk or bus ride over to Pioneer Airport and see the enthusiasm at KidVenture, where dedicated volunteers spend countless hours teaching next-generation aviators all about aviation.

I’ll be there attending numerous press conferences, forums and events, and of course walking row after row of exhibits and airplanes. See you at Oshkosh, Ron
