Aviation's educational efforts

The next issue of Airport Business magazine will explain a fascinating combined effort by industry, airports, colleges and schools; all started because a small group of people found problems and turned them into opportunities.

This major initiative began when one man found a problem which he saw as “an exciting opportunity.” He told other good men and women and they went to work. Now colleges and high schools are adding new courses, a world-renowned aviation manufacturer is on board, big time, as are two airports and a flight school—and great things are actually happening.

This is an effort that is local, but could and should be expanded to other localities from sea to shining sea. And get this—not one of the contributors has been asked to kick in money! This is all happening because all participants see the opportunity to improve their opportunities while also helping their entire community.

I’m enthusiastic about this initiative, and hope you will be, too.

On a different subject: I will be speaking at An Evening With Champions at Theater In the Woods at Oshkosh on July 27, on the program with Patti Wagstaff and Captain Brian Udell, who ejected from a jet at almost 800 mph! Y’all come now, y’hear?
