Another Industry Advocate Flies Home

Nick Sergi 1938 to 2013

The aircraft maintenance community lost yet another true advocate. Many of you recall the writings of Nick Sergi in the pages of Aircraft Maintenance Technology magazine. For several years Nick’s no-nonsense Editorial and Industry Outlook messages were a favorite among readers. Nick, like many of his generation, was a true advocate for the aircraft maintenance profession. My first meeting with Nick was only a few years ago at the 2010 Heli-Expo shortly after becoming the editor of Aircraft Maintenance Technology. I recall every corner we turned and isle we ventured down Nick knew someone.

After college, Nick joined The United States Marine Corps where he attained the rank of Captain while serving as a helicopter pilot.  He was employed by FlightSafety International for over 20 years, being known as an advocate for the aviation maintenance profession. Over the years Nick served on many aviation committees and boards including the Professional Aviation Maintenance Association. Upon retirement he went on to form NAS Aviation Consultants, became a member of the AMTSociety, and continued his passion for aircraft maintenance by blogging and writing editorial columns for Aircraft Maintenance Technology magazine. He will be missed by many.
