Željka Momirović:

Helps bring people together in aviation

Željka Momirović began her career in aviation in 2005. Momirović says, “This is an industry that brings people together and it enables people to be almost anywhere in just 24 hours making our big planet a small world of powerful and wonderful opportunities.” She was originally hired as a community relations specialist with the Houston Airport System (HAS) but is now Director of International Relations. Her current position highlights her experience in governmental affairs, customer service, public relations, and community and business development. Her vast knowledge of international protocol and customs has greatly enhanced her work with the international traveling public. She created and conducts recurring sensitivity training and orientations for HAS staff and stakeholders, with the goal of enriching the customer experience for all air travelers. She routinely collaborates with the Department of Homeland Security to advocate and promote programs such as the Global Entry Program, PreCheck and the Automated Passport Control kiosk. Momirović served as the prominent team leader in successfully finalizing negations for the HAS 560 Program for Reimbursable Overtime, an agreement between HAS and Customs and Border Patrol to reduce passenger wait times.

Because the industry is fast paced, dynamic and ever-changing. It surrounds you with a motivated, highly skilled and friendly work-force across a wide variety of teams and functions. At the same time, this is an industry that brings people together and it enables people to be almost anywhere in just 24 hours making our big planet a small world of powerful and wonderful opportunities.
2)        What advice from a mentor helped you the most in your career?

Never wait for a lucky break because only hard work and dedication create opportunity and success. Only determination and diligence will bring good fortune.  Learn from every experience and never give up.

3)        What is the biggest challenge you see facing aviation today?

Keeping up with growth, technological developments and demands.

4)        What advice would you give to others in the industry?

Be curious and keep learning about every aspect of the industry. Know how others contribute to the big picture.
