Maintenance management course

A J Walter Aviation is going to continue support of City University’s MSc. Aircraft Maintenance Management with its sixth annual AJW Bursary for 2012. This is open to applicants from the worldwide aviation industry. The MSc Aircraft Maintenance Management is a degree course from City University, London, which improves knowledge of the disciplines required to enable full understanding of the various technical, operational and financial pressures impacting on flight operations. Applications are invited immediately from students, email: [email protected]. Cessna to open service center in Spain

Cessna Aircraft is targeting Sept. 17 to mark the grand opening of its new company-owned Citation Service Center at Valencia Airport, Manises, Spain. The Valencia Citation Service Center will have approximately 62,400 square feet (5,800 square meters) of hangar space and 38,000 square feet (3,500 square meters) of office and administration space. The center will provide full line and base maintenance, warranty work, paint, small modifications and mobile support teams. Seventeen new employees who will work in maintenance at the facility have been hired and already have received six months of training on all Citation models with FlightSafety International and are currently receiving a year of on-the-job training at Cessna-owned service centers in the United States. The new employees already aboard include 12 mechanics with an EASA B1 license and five avionics/electrical professionals with an EASA B2 license.

Welding contest

Victor Technologies announces its 2012 “Innovation to Shape the World” contest for students in welding and cutting programs at secondary and post-secondary schools. Three first or second year students will win $250 by submitting a 500-word essay supporting the contest theme, and members on three intermediate/advanced teams will each win $500 for completing a welding and cutting project. The contest began on June 25, 2012 and ends on Oct. 30, 2012. Winners will be announced at the 2012 FABTECH Show in Las Vegas. Spray finishing training

DeVilbiss, Binks, and Owens Community College have teamed up to present a spray finishing technology workshop. This three-day program is scheduled for Nov. 7-9, 2012 in Toledo, OH.
