Sandy Showalter spent much of his youth in the same place where he spends most of his days now as an adult. Showalter Flying Service at Orlando Executive Airport (KORL) has been in his family for nearly 67 years and continues today as a true family FBO. Showalter had begun working odd jobs around the airport by age 12 and by the time high school rolled around had gotten pretty handy at mowing grass, sweeping hangars, and washing airplanes and rental cars. By that time Showalter had also mastered the intricacies of aircraft identification and begun developing what has become a continuing passion for all things that fly.

Today Showalter's responsibilities have evolved to include overseeing the FBO’s marketing efforts and handling all aircraft sales and acquisition work, where his working knowledge of a wide variety of aircraft types serves him well. He also works weekly full line service shifts in order to stay current at fueling, servicing, and towing aircraft. When at the airport and not engaged in FBO business, Showalter can often be found attending to his role as president of the Florida Aviation Trades Association (FATA), a post he is honored and gratified to hold.  Under Showalter's stewardship FATA has won three major legislative victories in the past two years in Florida while maintaining its stature as one of the premier state specific aviation advocacy groups in the country.

In addition, Showalter is an accomplished commercial rated pilot, often employing that skill in his zealous pursuit of saltwater game fish.
