TAP Maintenance & Engineering Brazil receives 777 landing gear contract from Boeing

As Latin America’s largest MRO, in size and capability, TAP Maintenance & Engineering Brazil (TAP M&E Brazil) is expanding its already extensive list of capabilities though a 777 landing gear overhaul service contract the company was recently awarded by Boeing. The contract includes inspection, repair, and overhaul of the landing gear axles of the Boeing 777, through a Service Bulletin released by Boeing, which will be incorporated by the airlines that fly this aircraft.

Savannah Tech breaks ground on aviation training

Savannah Technical College broke ground for its new Aviation Training Center, designed to develop high-level technicians for area jobs in aircraft assembly and maintenance. It's expected to be ready for students beginning with the spring semester next year. The 29,152-square-foot building will feature a 5,000-square-foot hangar plus labs and classrooms. Dassault Falcon's West Palm Beach satellite service

Dassault Falcon's newest satellite service station recently opened, one month ahead of schedule, at West Palm Beach Airport (KPBI) in Florida. DAS - West Palm Beach is authorized by the FAA to perform "A" inspections up to the "4A+" inspection on the Falcon 50, Falcon 2000, and Falcon 900 family of aircraft as well as the Falcon 7X. EASA approval is expected within the next 30 days. The facility in West Palm is part of a global support system which includes similar stations in St. Louis, Missouri; Luton-London, U.K.; Rome, Italy; Moscow, Russia; and Nice, France.

Fort Rucker honors retirees at ceremony

A standing-room-only crowd turned out to honor the post's latest eight retirees during a ceremony at the U.S. Army Aviation Museum Jan. 20. Col. James A. Muskopf, Fort Rucker garrison commander, hosted the ceremony to thank the three military, five civilians, and their families for their service and sacrifice to the country. "The retirees we're honoring today represent the very best of Army Aviation and our Army. I know all of you share the pride these soldiers and civilians have knowing they served in distinction and with honor," the colonel said. "We take time today to thank them for their service as they move forward to begin the next chapter of their lives.

Sikorsky Aerospace Services and Danish Aerotech sign MOA for MH-60R helicopter support

Sikorsky Aerospace Services announced the signing of a memorandum of agreement with Danish Aerotech A/S to discuss the possibility of establishing a maritime helicopter logistic support capability in Denmark should the Danish government acquire MH-60R Seahawk helicopters for the Royal Danish Navy. Sikorsky Aerospace Services is the aftermarket division of Sikorsky Aircraft Corp., a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp.

Duncan Aviation announces new service sales

Duncan Aviation announced new airframe service sales responsibilities for its Lincoln, NE, and Provo, UT, locations. Brad Homeyer is now serving as airframe service sales representative for Duncan Aviation-Provo and Ryan Huss is a new airframe service sales representative in Duncan Aviation-Lincoln. Huss joined Duncan Aviation in 2001 and Homeyer joined Duncan Aviation in 1996.

Component Control endorsed as ARSA preferred

Component Control announced that it had been approved as the exclusive preferred provider of MRO and logistics software solutions by the Aeronautical Repair Station Association (ARSA). ARSA members must comply with many complex procedures to achieve the FAA certification required to operate their repair facilities. Lufthansa Technical Training (LTT) has posted a selection from moe than 250 open courses and seminars on its web site. This means that a wide selection of training offerings is now available to individual participants in the online Training Finder for convenient viewing and for booking requests. The courses offered range from basic technical training and aircraft type training to courses from the area of aviation industry solutions.

AAI Logistics & Technical Services awarded U.S. Air Force contract for B-1B training system support

AAI Logistics & Technical Services, an operating unit of Textron Systems, a Textron Inc. company, announced that the company has received an award from the U.S. Air Force at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base to provide logistics support and concurrency modifications for the B-1B Training System. The award has a total potential value of $162 million over seven years. Under this award, it will be responsible for operating the B-1B Training System Support Center, located at Dyess Air Force Base in Texas, and providing contractor logistics support for training systems at multiple locations.

Dortmans appointed EVP KLM Engineering & Maintenance

Antonius (“Ton”) Dortmans has been appointed executive vice president of KLM Engineering & Maintenance effect on Feb. 1, succeeding Peter de Swert. Dortmans joined KLM on Aug. 1, 1985.
