Wanted: Technical Assistance

The most dramatic symbol of the rebirth of the Council Bluffs Municipal Airport is the new aviation curriculum center for Iowa Western Community College. It is scheduled to be ready for the fall semester.

As Iowa Western Community College prepares to move into its new airport-based facility at Council Bluffs Municipal Airport, the chair of the aviation program, Eldon Young, points out that being on the airport adds a new dimension to the program. There is now room for actual aircraft and large engine breakdown and testing practice for students to work on in the Aviation Maintenance Technology program.

However, like most schools, IWCC could use some help. Young is looking for actual aircraft, engines (PT-6, et. al.), testing equipment, and the like. The school currently feeds graduates to repair stations in the region, and looks to graduate up to 100 A&Ps a year.

Young can be reached at (712) 325-3414 or [email protected].
