The ACM20 particle counter—for use in the aviation refueling industry, is now available from Parker Hannifin (UK) Ltd. Designed to allow quick, easy. and accurate detection of contamination in fuels, from the refinery to uplift of fuel into the aircraft, replacing potentially subjective methods of fuel monitoring such as clear and bright and Gravimetric Millipore. The two-minute test will allow checking of contamination levels, trends, and integrity in a reliable, reproducible and repeatable way, and can be used in other applications such as filter performance, pipeline commissioning, and extending service intervals of supply systems. The ACM20 is portable, accurate, and designed to be used anywhere hydrocarbon fuel is used, across filters, tanks, fuel receipts from ships, etc, and also in laboratories where it can be utilized with existing analysing equipment. The ACM20 calibration is traceable to ISO11171 for SRM2806 through ISO 11943 principles; www.parker.com

The IK-1000—an extreme low-light, color video camera is now available from Toshiba Imaging Systems Division. The breakthrough imaging system features Toshiba’s new, proprietary electron-multiplying CCD technology, making it ideal for all ultra low-light applications. The incoming signal is multiplied by a factor of one thousand, allowing a minimum illumination with full color reproduction down to 0.25 mlux (1/1000 lux) in color at 50 IRE. Toshiba’s electron multiplying technology results in a super-sensitive camera that is designed to be 1000 times more sensitive than a conventional color CCD. The ½-inch CCD features a high resolution 658 x 496 pixel sensor, a built-in electronic shutter to 1/2000 sec., and accepts C-mount lenses. Developed in response to customer requests for a camera that could reproduce color images in starlight, underwater and other lowlight conditions, the compact, ultra-sensitive color camera measures 58 mm (W) x 58.4 mm (H) x 133 mm (D); www.cameras.toshiba.com
