Each year Aviation Industry Expo provides those within the aircraft industry the opportunity to connect while gaining a wealth of information on the latest in ground support and maintenance equipment and trends. While visiting the Aviation Industry Expo March 20 to 22, guests have the chance to attend the National Air Transportation Association's 2007 annual convention and the Professional Aviation Maintenance Association's 36th annual Aviation Maintenance Symposium. Along with these events are numerous seminars featuring topics covering ground support and aviation business. AMTSociety plays host to awards and presentations at this year's Aviation Industry Expo

AMTSociety announces it is hosting several presentations at this year's Aviation Industry Expo this March in Orlando. AMTSociety will either host or be a part of the following:

AMTSociety Hosts NCATT presentation — Real Avionics Standards — Right NOW! (Tuesday, 11 a.m. Room N210B) Find out more about a fully developed and available avionics standard that has been developed by a national consortium of aviation businesses, aviation industry organizations, the U.S. government (through National Science Foundation funding), and partner educational institutions.

The National Center for Aircraft Technician Training has been established by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Pennsylvania College of Technology, San Jose State University, Tarrant County College, and Weatherford College through a grant from the National Science Founda-tion.

Join us for a discussion of the progress by the National Center for Aircraft Technician Training (NCATT) and its efforts in facilitating the development of standards, technician certification and resources to further the professional development of all maintenance technicians.

AMTSociety hosts NBAA's Project Bootstrap presentation (Tuesday, 1 p.m. Room N210B)

Learn about an initiative offered by the NBAA Training/Advanced Education Sub-committee to raise the educational and professional bar for all aviation technicians through the creation of a new and higher certificated category.

The contemporary certification is to be granted by a professional aviation industry coalition. The long-term goal will be FAA certification for the AMTE (Aviation Maintenance Technical Engineer), combining the A&P, IA, and avionics skill sets.

FAA AMT Awards presentation (Tuesday, 4 p.m. AMTSociety Booth 1353) AMTSociety will host the Annual FAA AMT Awards program drawing. Prizes, collected and distributed by the Industry AMT Awards committee are awarded to entrants who have earned the right to participate by achieving specific training criteria set by the FAA. Come by the AMTSociety booth at 4 p.m. to help celebrate training and safety!

Charles Taylor II to speak on the contributions of his great grandfather Charles Taylor. (Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. – Room N319) Hear this interesting bit of history as the great grandson of the Wright Brothers' mechanic speaks on the contributions of Charles Taylor to aviation and aviation maintenance. A bronze bust of Charles taylor will also be on display at the AMTSociety booth #1353.

Wall of Honor

AMTSociety will be displaying a Wall of Honor for all 2006 Charles Taylor recipients at the AMTSociety Booth #1353.

AMTSociety to give away Lista toolbox

Lista, a manufacturer of professional quality toolboxes and storage units, is donating a high quality tool storage unit for raffle at Aviation Industry Expo.

This drawing is open to all readers of AMT. Simply pull the entry form in this issue and mail it or bring it to the Aviation Industry Expo to the AMTSociety Booth.

Drawing will take place at 2 p.m. the last day of the show. All mail-in entries must be received by AMT prior to March 16, and or entered at the show prior to 2 p.m. the day of show closing (March 22, 2007).

AMT is not responsible for late entries or those received after March 16.

PAMA 36th Annual Maintenance Symposium

Is it time to renew your IA/AMT? Attend the 2007 PAMA Symposium where you can register for qualified technical sessions, spend time networking with colleagues and learning the latest of the industry. Professional development workshops, a little friendly competition, and an awards breakfast as well as the famous chili cook-off are included in registration and make this an expo must.

Festivities will begin with the PAMA Welcome Reception on Monday, March 19, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Orange County Convention Center. A new addition to the PAMA event, the reception opens the show with a networking opportunity between colleagues.

The Professional Development Workshops will run March 18, 19, and 23. It is a great opportunity to obtain training as a technician, supervisor, or management personnel. Also held within the Orange County Convention Center, additional fees may apply for the workshops, which are FAA approved for training credits toward IA Renewal and AMT Awards Credit.

A show favorite, the chili cook-off, will be held on March 21 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on the exhibit floor of the Orange County Convention Center. Travel from booth to booth sampling the hot and tasty bowls of chili before voting on your favorite. Proceeds will go toward funding educational scholarships from the Professional Aviation Maintenance Foundation (PAMF).

A raffle will be held during the cook-off featuring a Snap-on 11-drawer tool chest with stainless-steel top and $5,000 Snap-on gift certificate.

Feed your competitive side at the PAMA Aviation Maintenance Olympics Competition, March 20 to 22. Stop by Booth #1187 to test your skills in everything from hardware identification to rigging, and troubleshooting. Competitors are judged on safety, workmanship, speed, and professional appearance.

PAMA also takes this opportunity to recognize the achievements of individuals and organizations within the industry. The Awards Breakfast is scheduled for March 22, 7:30 to 10:00 a.m. at the Orange County Convention Center.

The perfect opportunity to discuss PAMA's initiatives and benefits is during its Annual Membership and Chapter Leader Meeting during the Expo. On Thursday, March 22, 10:00 a.m. to noon members of PAMA staff and board of directors will be available to discuss PAMA and industry topics. All events are a great way to connect with others in theindustry.

Business Briefs and Tech Talks

The Aviation Industry Expo will be featuring free 30- to 45-minute sessions of Business Briefs and Tech Talks. Sit in on Business Briefs and learn about industry issues and business solutions before moving on to Tech Talks and hear about the latest equipment and processes, often accompanied by a live presentation and hands-on experience. GSE Expo International 2007 Conference

Enjoy several seminars and panel discussions once again at this year's GSE Conference. Many topics will be covered, such as: issues that GSE providers and operators face, environmental strategies, safety, and also labor and employment issues.

Career Center

The no-fee Career Center offers job seekers and potential employers the opportunity to connect within the aviation industry. Positions to be hired for include: aviation engineering, aviation maintenance, ground support, and many more. Registration for the Career Center includes entrance into the Aviation Industry Exhibit Hall.

NATA FBO Leadership Conference
