Mistral Air signs maintenance contract with Lufthansa
The Italian carrier Mistral Air, a subsidiary of Gruppo Poste Italiane (Italian Mail), and Lufthansa Technik, a provider of maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) for airplanes, components, and engines signed contracts for the technical support of the newly acquired fleet of three Boeing 737QC (Quick Change) aircraft. The contracts include total component support (TCS), with Lufthansa Technik supplying the carrier's homebase stock and Mistral Air having access to Lufthansa Technik's pool of spare parts. Lufthansa Technik will also carry out all engine maintenance and overhaul tasks via a total engine support (TES) agreement, including APU services.

Menlo to offer parts for Embraer in Singapore
Menlo Worldwide has been selected by Embraer, manufacturer of commercial jets up to 120 seats, to operate a regional logistics hub providing dedicated service parts warehousing and distribution supporting the expansion of Embraer's family of regional and executive jet aircraft in the Asia-Pacific market. Under the contract, Menlo has established a dedicated, 24/7 operation at its existing Singapore Regional Logistics Hub providing rapid response fulfillment to Embraer's Asia-based customers, and will maintain a complete inventory of repairable, expendable, and structural parts for Embraer's ERJ 145 and the EMBRAER 170/190 line of commercial jet aircraft.

Seth Richards won the Lista toolbox raffle held at AMT/AMTSociety's booth during Aviation Industry Expo in March. Richards is a student at the Aviation Institute of Maintenance in Atlanta, GA.

RAA/ACT and UTEX join up for course on composites
Renaissance Aeronautics Associates Inc. and its training division ACT, Advanced Composites Training, has an agreement with UTEX Scientific Instruments Inc. of Mississauga, Ontario, for instructing ACT's “Non Destructive Inspection for Advanced Composites and Bonded Structures” training courses. UTEX has completed the installation of a new training center in its 15,000-square-foot facility. New NDI equipment includes a large multi-axis scanning system, multiple UT immersion scanning tanks, and related hardware and software systems for simulation.

AEA Lifetime Achievement Award
Monte Mitchell, past president of AEA, received the AEA Lifetime Achievement Award during a ceremony at this year's AEA convention. He is an industry veteran who served nearly 40 years in the general aviation industry. Mitchell is an AEA legend, having served first as executive director, then president of the association from 1977 to 1996.

Conklin & de Decker releases new Aircraft Cost Evaluator database
Conklin & de Decker has released the 4.64 version of its Aircraft Cost Evaluator database. This aircraft operating cost benchmarking tool is part of a family of aircraft acquisition data products created by Conklin & de Decker and is now available with 18 more aircraft. The Aircraft Cost Evaluator (ACE) database covers more than 460 business aircraft models including turbine, helicopter, and piston aircraft. The Citation XLS+, Hawker 750, Bell 412HP, and Gulfstreams II, IIB, and III with Hushkits are just a few of the aircraft added to the latest release.

New STC for Geneva
Geneva Aviation receives STC/PMA approval for a new line of modular equipment racks designed for Bell 206/407 and Eurocopter AS350/355 Model. The modular equipment rack offers a convenient, lightweight, and uniform equipment mounting alternative that provides operators with a safe and dependable solution for securing up to 38 pounds of ENG equipment. AMT magazine contributes to AMTSociety scholarship fund
AMT publisher Greg Napert presented a $1,500 check to Ken MacTiernan, founder of Aircraft Maintenance Technicians Association and member of AMTSociety's Advisory Council, to help start AMTSociety's scholarship fund. Scholarships will help mechanics receive further education and training and achieve A&P certification.
