NATA Forms Air Charter Safety Foundation

In June, the National Air Transportation Association announced the formation of the Air Charter Safety Foundation, an initiative to promote standards and training in a growing industry segment.

Comments NATA head of industry and government affairs Eric Byer, “We had our first board of governors meeting, which Charlie Priester is heading up. It was a heckuva room, with 45 of the cream of the crop of the industry. It was interesting, since they all preach safety anyway.”

First up for the group will be creating an industry audit standard, explains Byer. “If we can create a baseline that everbody can sign up for, it will be good for industry and cost-effective,” says Byer.

The foundation is also looking at a 2008 academic symposium, to be hosted at National Transportation Safety Board facilities.
