Not everyone has what it takes to be a great aircraft mechanic. Sure, being an aircraft mechanic takes knowledge — knowledge that many people can pick up by reading textbooks. But in addition to knowledge, and probably more importantly, it takes a natural mechanical aptitude — an aptitude that can’t be taught in school. You either have it or you don’t.

Likewise, not everyone has what it takes to be a great photographer. Sure, anyone can learn how to use a camera and take a photo. But it also takes a natural ability to be a great photographer — to understand the elements that make up a good picture.

In our November issue, we asked you to submit photos to us for our Readers in Action contest. The winner would receive $300.00 and their submission would be the cover image on our January/February issue.

Well, we received quite a few entries. Thanks to all who entered. It was difficult picking just one winner. In the end, Jim Koepnick’s photo was selected as the contest winner. Jim works for the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) museum in Oshkosh, WI. Congratulations Jim!

For your enjoyment, here are a few other images that were sent in.

Thanks for reading!
