WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn., Feb. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Hamilton Sundstrand, a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX), has signed an exclusive spare parts purchase agreement with China Eastern, which will include all Hamilton Sundstrand detail spare part purchases in support of China Eastern's component repair shops.
"China continues to show strong growth in aviation," said Brendan Curran, Hamilton Sundstrand vice president and general manager of aftermarket sales and commercial spares. "Hamilton Sundstrand is pleased to be the exclusive spare part supplier of China Eastern's repair shops."
"Due to China Eastern's fleet expansion, our desire is to increase our repair capability and lower our overall maintenance costs," said Li Yangmin, China Eastern's vice president of Maintenance. "This agreement with Hamilton Sundstrand allows us to achieve those goals."
China Eastern is one of the largest airlines in China. Based in Shanghai, China Eastern not only has nine domestic branches, but also is the controlling shareholder of several other airlines within China. The sub companies of China Eastern are located in 11 provinces of the country. China Eastern has approximately 35,000 employees and operates a fleet of more than 200 aircraft.
