West Star Aviation receives STC
The West Star Aviation Inc. has received the STC to install the GH-3100 standby instrument and a magnetometer on Cessna Citation 550 and 560 aircraft at its East Alton, IL, facility. The STC is applicable to Citation 500 S/N 550-0809 and up and Citation 560 aircraft S/N 560-0401 to 560-5000. The GH-3100 self-contained unit features a full color active matrix LCD display, 3ATI-size with dimmable fluorescent backlighting and a full range of navigational interfaces.

Tailwind Technologies acquires AcousticFab
Tailwind Technologies Inc., of Piqua, OH, has acquired AcousticFab Inc., of Sanford, FL, a company that designs and fabricates a full range of aerospace and military-equipment noise control products and systems. AcousticFab will be the fourth in the Tailwind Technologies portfolio of operating companies, which also include Hartzell Propeller Inc., Industrial Tube Corporation, and Electrofilm Manufacturing Company.

AvFab receives STC
Aviation Fabricators (AvFab) has recently received STC approval for its one-, two-, and three-place side-facing divans on Cessna 441 aircraft. The STC involves the removal of existing seats and furnishings, locating the new divan in the desired location and locking the feet in place. AvFab specializes in cabin seating solutions, components, and upgrades for cabin class aircraft.

DART Helicopter receives EASA approvals
Dart Helicopter Services has received EASA approval of its rear seat shoulder harness kit for Eurocopter AS350/AS355 series aircraft. Geneva Aviation, a member of the DART family of companies, has received EASA approval for its modular equipment rack for AS350/AS355 series helicopters.

Its subsidiary, Apical Industries Inc., has received EASA approval for its Emergency Float System for Eurocopter EC130B4 helicopters. FAA and Transport Canada approvals have been previously received. The Apical Emergency Float System provides a lightweight and easy to install solution for EC130 operators who routinely or even occasionally fly over water, and want the added security of having emergency floats installed.

Careers in Aviation: Epps Aviation Scholarship
Careers in Aviation has received a $5,000 donation from Epps Aviation. The donation will assist in general support for the organization, and more importantly, toward the establishment of an Epps Aviation Scholarship. A $2,500 scholarship is designated for a potential or current student pursuing a career in aviation, who expresses a need for financial support to complete training or education. Lincoln Electric service center
The Lincoln Electric Company, has opened a new Automation Service Center in Nashville, TN.

The facility is fully equipped and ready to serve with a variety of preventive maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and redeployment services for Lincoln Electric Power Wave and STT welders, wire feeders, controls, and associated automation equipment. Services are offered on-site at the customer location or at the repair facility. The 4,100-square-foot center offers services such as equipment cleaning and repairs, connection, and weld testing on a robot, burn-in cycle (run at machine’s rated output), as well as robot service, upgrading, programming, and operation training services. United Rotorcraft/Ahlers obtain STC
United Rotorcraft Solutions (URS) and partner Ahlers Aerospace were recently awarded FAA Supplemental Type Certificates for their night vision lighting modifications for the Bell 206 Series and the Eurocopter AS350B2/B3.

Using new filter material that greatly improves day light readability, United Rotorcraft Solutions and Ahlers Aerospace have designed a modification utilizing external NVIS White filters of glass or poly carbon applied to both instruments and displays. Filter selection is predicated on the light source, whether incandescent, florescent, LCD, or LED.

StandardAero receives EASA approval
StandardAero has received European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Part 145 approval for Pratt & Whitney Canada PW600-series turbine-engine maintenance at its Tilburg facility in the Netherlands. The authorization covers field-level maintenance, on-wing hot section inspections (HSI), as well as HSI capabilities in the facility. Specific engine models covered are the PW610 for the Eclipse 500 and the PW615 for the Cessna Mustang.
