State of AMTSociety
Starting with the next issue of AMT magazine I will be including the activities and updates for AMTSociety.
Currently, the board of directors is working on the bylaws for student charters, Aviation Industry Expo Maintenance Skills Competition, and improving membership services.
Additionally I will focus on one member of the board in order for you, the reader/member, to become more familiar with each of us who work for and represent you.
The main ingredient is keeping you, the member, up to date on our benefits and also the the issues we have or will address in the coming weeks. Thank you for your support.
Bill O’Brien passed away as this issue was going to press. Without a doubt this is a severe blow to the aviation industry, there are too many items to try and recall or highlight at this moment for all the good/great things Bill did in his lifetime for everyone in the industry. He will always be remembered for two major items: The Charles E. Taylor Program and the FAA AMT Awards Program.
We are very fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with him. AMTSociety is especially fortunate to have one of our scholarships named after him.

AMTSociety Golf Tournament
The second annual AMTSociety Scholarship Fundraising Golf Tournament, tied in with Aviation Industry Expo, will be held Monday, March 9, 2009, at Rio Secco Golf Club, 2851 Grand Hills Dr., Henderson, NV 89052. Effective Jan. 1, 2009, FlightSafety will present every new Master Technician with a complimentary one-year membership in AMTSociety. In cases where a technician receives multiple Master Technician awards on more than one aircraft model, FlightSafety will provide a one-year membership for each award. Global Jet Services
