At PHX, a Super Bowl Bonanza

Swift Aviation Group, the official FBO of the Super Bowl Host Committee reports robust activity for the event . Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport handled an estimated 677 landings between Thursday and Monday. Swift handled 455 aircraft and pumped over 280,000 gallons of jet-A during this period.

In Memoriam

• Dios Marrero, who served as executive director of Bob Hope Airport in Burbank, CA since 1999, died at his home February 13 at the age of 57. He had taken a medical leave of absence in January and had undergone cancer surgery in 2007.

Marrero joined the Airport administrative staff in 1980 and was controller and CFO from 1987 until 1999, when he became executive director.

• William ‘Bill’ Connor, A.A.E., 63, died suddenly February 10. He spent his 35-year aviation career as a commercial pilot, air traffic controller, airport manager, and airport consultant. He served as director at Capital Airport (IL); manager at Clinton County (NY) Airport; and, assistant manager at Bradley International.

He joined ACSG Inc. in 1991 and headed the Colorado Springs office.
