¦ Datalogic Mobile, part of the Datalogic Group and a global player in Rugged Mobile Computers, launched a Web site for the Americas market. The local site, accessible at www.mobile.datalogic.com/ americas, features items of interest within the market and is designed to help users search for specific information, making it simpler for the company to connect with business partners around the world.

¦ Hydrogen Engine Center Inc. announced a series of steps to expand advanced technology development while simultaneously accelerating the delivery of alternative energy solutions to the global market. In order to take advantage of the pricing and supply concerns of oil-based energy markets, the company has devised a four-point strategic plan, including licensing and increased utilization of power solutions.

¦ AccelRate Power Systems, the technology leader in “high-speed” battery chargers, announced it has completed the non-brokered private placement of 1,292,113 units, realizing gross proceeds of $232,580. Each unit comprises one common share and one-half warrant, each whole warrant exercisable to purchase one additional common share in the capital of the company at $0.22 until Nov. 20, 2008. All shares issued in connection with the private placement and any shares issued on exercise of warrants comprised in those units will be subject to a four-month hold period expiring March 20, 2008. Proceeds from the placement will be used as working capital for the operation of the company’s business, to develop new products and to continue its sales and marketing efforts.

¦ UFIS Airport Solutions announced the role that their UFIS® software suite played in the preparation for the departure of the A380 from Singapore. UFIS® was used by Singapore Airport Terminal Services, the main ground handler at Changi International Airport, to make sure the right personnel was in place for check-in, baggage loading, fueling and servicing the plane. The Civil Aviation Authorities of Singapore used the location management features of UFIS® to make sure that the correct number of check-in counters were assigned to the flight and a parking stand big enough to handle the super-sized A380 was reserved and available for this historic flight. UFIS® Status Manager module, providing a graphical overview of the statuses, was used to make sure each service was completed in time for an on-time departure. The UFIS® software was optimized two years ago to handle the A380.

¦ DHL is partnering with local communities in New York and Southern California to deliver live holiday trees and decorations to US troops stationed in the Middle East through its annual Trees for Troops charitable program. Since 2004, the program has collected and shipped thousands of holiday trees, lights, ornaments, menorahs and messages of support to the brave men and women serving in Iraq, Afghanistan, Bahrain and Kuwait.

¦ FedEx Custom Critical and FedEx Express are now utilizing new air-cargo container technology from AmSafe® for their temperature-controlled shipping services. The AcuTemp® RKN, brought to the air-cargo market through AmSafe, uses compressor technology instead of dry ice to keep the inside of the container at the desired shipping temperature. The container’s battery can last for more than 100 hours for safe shipping around the globe. The battery can also be plugged in for easy recharging throughout the life of the shipment. Using its suite of Temp-Assure Air services, FedEx Custom Critical offers US and international air solutions to safely ship temperature-sensitive products — from pharmaceuticals and medical supplies to high-end electronics.

¦ RiechesBaird has been selected by American Airlines CargoSM, a division of American Airlines Inc., to provide business strategy, brand development, integrated marketing, creative development, design and production services. Throughout the multi-tiered, comprehensive campaign, RiechesBaird will work to enhance the company’s brand recognition and aid in its global planning and marketing efforts.

¦ DHL announced it will spend $175 million to build its North Asia express transferring hub at Shanghai Pudong International Airport. The announcement means the airport will be the first in the world with two international express transferring hubs. United Parcel Service Inc. is also building its international air hub at Pudong. The DHL North Asia hub, scheduled to be completed in the second half of 2010, will serve China and the vibrant North Asia region, which will contribute 30 percent of global express volume by 2015, the German courier said.

¦ Menzies Aviation was awarded the Emirates Airlines’ contract for ramp and cabin cleaning services at Houston George Bush Intercontinental in the United States. Emirates will initially operate three flights per week commencing Dec. 3, using B777-200LR aircraft, rising to daily in early 2008. The airline is a travel brand around the world, with a network spanning five continents.

¦ Logan Teleflex Inc. has won a $3.6 million contract to supply its leading-edge technology to Fairbanks International Airport in Alaska. The contract was awarded as part of Fairbanks’ expansion program for modernizing and expanding the airport. This contract follows on from Logan Teleflex’s collaboration with Alaska Airlines to implement a completely in-line two-step process of passenger check-in for the airline at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, also in Alaska.

¦ Menzies Aviation was awarded the Emirates Skycargo contract for ramp handling in Prague Ruzyne Airport, where it also currently provides cargo handling services to the airline. The contract commenced Nov. 9 and is a new route for the airline. They will operate a weekly flight to Prague using B747-200F aircraft.

¦ Airport Terminal Services named Greg Daws and Jim Murphy regional vice president, operations and customer service. Previously, Daws has worked with United Airlines, Continental Airlines and Ward Air, as well as passenger and ramp operations with ground handling companies. Previous positions with ATS include supervisor, station manager, manager of safety and training, and regional director of operations for the central region. Murphy has been in the aviation industry for 25 years, both in ground handling and directly with airlines. Murphy has held positions with ATS as a supervisor, station manager and director of operations for the eastern region.

¦ FMC Technologies Inc. announced executive changes in its airport equipment and services division. Lee Coon was appointed director of global sales and service and is responsible for all worldwide new equipment sales and customer service functions. Pat Brown was named executive sales manager and manages senior level sales support for the worldwide customer base. Gene Johnson is regional manager — Asia/Pacific, based in Singapore and is responsible for all customer sales and service functions in the region.

¦ Long-serving Jamaican airline executive William Rodgers is emerging from retirement to take over the reins of his beloved Air Jamaica. The Jamaican press reports that Rodgers has been appointed acting president and chief executive officer of Air Jamaica, following the departure of President and CEO Michael Conway.

¦ Bradford R. Holt was named president and chief operating officer of Atlantic Southeast Airlines, a wholly owned subsidiary of SkyWest Inc. Prior to his appointment as president, Holt served as vice president of flight operations at St. George-based SkyWest Airlines.
