¦ The Hammonds Companies decided to give away an Omni Directional Vehicle to one winner in 2008. The Houston-based company announced its first ever “Go ODV 2008 Give Away.” Entries may be submitted online at both www.HammondsCos.com and www.HammondsODV.com, or at any number of aviation industry trade shows across the country in which the company will be participating this year. A drawing will be held on Dec. 1, 2008, with winner notification occurring on Dec. 15th.

¦ CeoTronics introduced the first wireless digital headset for push back operations featuring full-duplex-communication. For the first time, pilot and the ground handler can simultaneously speak with each other and listen at the same time. The CT-DECT GateCom Headset with noise compensating electret microphone provides a digital platform for the wireless communication between aircraft cockpit and ground crew, of up to eight people, even under noise from running jet engines or rotors.

¦ Menzies Aviation has secured a three-year contract from Turkish Airlines to provide full handling services at the Johannesburg OR Tambo International Airport and the Cape Town International Airport in South Africa. The airline currently operates three weekly flights to Johannesburg, using A330-200 aircraft, which then continue to Cape Town before returning to Istanbul, Turkey, again via Johannesburg.

¦ Honeywell International, a diversified technology and manufacturing group, has agreed to an expanded contract with Malaysia-based airline AirAsia. Under the new agreement, Honeywell’s auxiliary power unit will provide air conditioning, main engine starting and electrical power for AirAsia’s recent order of up to 125 Airbus A320 aircraft. Honeywell has also signed a maintenance agreement with AirAsia to service the APUs. The new A320 aircraft are scheduled for delivery between 2009 and 2013. The two companies agreed upon a similar contract in 2006 for AirAsia’s first 100 aircraft, Honeywell said.

¦ Reveal Imaging Technologies Inc., a developer of advanced security inspection systems, announced that it has been awarded contracts with the Beijing Capital International Airport Authority and Chinese government agency for CT-80 automated explosives detection systems (EDS) to be used for Olympic security. The Reveal CT-80 was selected after receiving certification from the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China (CAAC) for EDS deployment in Chinese airports. Government agencies around the world have chosen the CT-80 for explosives screening for aviation and event security at high-risk facilities. The US Transportation Security Administration currently has more than 200 CT-80 systems in use for checked baggage screening at more than 70 US airports.

¦ FMC Technologies Inc. announced that its newly formed FoodTech and Airport Systems company, John Bean Technologies Corporation (JBT Corporation), has filed a Form 10 registration statement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission. In late October 2007, FMC Technologies announced its intent to combine its FoodTech and Airport Systems businesses into a separate, publicly traded company and distribute the shares to its stockholders in a tax-free spin-off. FMC estimates that the distribution will occur in mid-2008.

Partnerships/Acquisitions/Contracts

¦ Aviapartner Handling announced a ground handling contract with KLM in Marseille, Nice and Toulouse. In Toulouse, Aviapartner will be handling KLM’s three daily flights as of June 3, 2008. In Nice, KLM will switch to Aviapartner Handling as of June 17 for its four daily flights and in Marseille, as of Sept. 30, 2008, for its three daily flights. All these flights are operated with Fokker 70 and Fokker 100 aircraft. In total, this represents an important increase in volume for these stations, totalling 3,500 flights per year.

¦ The American carrier US Airways has just signed a major cargo-handling contract with Aviapartner Cargo for the provision of full cargo handling services at no less than 13 stations in Europe, effective July 1, 2008. The contract is signed for a period of three years and represents a volume of about 33,000T per year. This is the largest network contract with regards to coverage and scope ever signed in the history of Aviapartner Cargo. Aviapartner Cargo will provide US Airways with full cargo handling services in Frankfurt, Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, Stockholm, Athens, Zurich, Barcelona, Madrid, Lisbon, Rome, Milan and Venice: warehousing, ULD build-up and breakdown, inventory control, documentation for import and export, customs clearance, tracing, and dangerous goods handling.

¦ ARINC Incorporated and Gate Gourmet, a global leader in airline catering and onboard retail management, said they will work together to market onboard sales programs for the world’s airlines and passenger rail systems. Under a memorandum just signed, Gate Gourmet will offer ARINC’s cutting-edge SkyBuy™ sales technology as the standard in its buy-on-board programs, while ARINC will work exclusively with Gate Gourmet on outsourced catering and buy-on-board projects. The two companies plan to introduce SkyBuy to retail programs already under way at three leading airlines — easyJet and Norwegian in Europe, and Jetstar in Asia.

¦ Proserv Aviation Inc. has signed a distributor agreement with Unitron LP. Proserv will be stocking both new and used power carts. Unitron offers solid state power carts in configurations from 15KVA through 180KVA. Each unit offers different options of single or dual output, 28.5vdc output, combination AC/DC units, and more.

¦ BAX Global has awarded Integrated Airline Services Inc. (IASAir) new business at El Paso International Airport. Effective since April 21, 2008, IASAir has provided ramp handling services for BAX Global in El Paso, Texas.

¦ Gate Gourmet, the world’s largest independent airline catering and logistics provider and a member of gategroup, has agreed to purchase airline catering units in five cities from Air Berlin and SCK Sky Catering Kitchen GmbH. In addition, Air Berlin, Germany’s second largest airline and the third largest carrier in the European leisure market, has agreed to a new long-term catering contract with Gate Gourmet in Germany and the rest of Europe. The flight kitchens included in the transaction are located at Dusseldorf, Cologne/Bonn, Munster/Osnabruck, Leipzig/Halle and Paderborn. The five facilities serve approximately 18,000 flights total a year, with Dusseldorf the largest single unit at approximately 10,000 flights annually.

¦ Menzies Aviation announced that Orient Thai Airlines has awarded its ramp handling contract for freighter aircraft operation at Hong Kong International Airport to the company. This is in addition to the ramp handling services provided by Menzies to the passenger aircraft of the airline at Hong Kong. Orient Thai operates five freighter flights per week to Hong Kong using B747F aircraft. The airline, which was Asia’s first international charter operator, currently provides scheduled services from Hong Kong to Bangkok (daily) and Phuket (three each week), and has an extensive domestic network.

¦ Cavotec Middle East FZE has accquired the US-based Dabico Group, a manufacturer of airport ground support equipment. Cavotec MSL Holdings Ltd., the parent company of Cavotec Middle East FZE and leaders in the design and installation of environmentally friendly power solutions, inked the synergy deal recently and the acquisition has been in effect since April 23, 2008.

¦ The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority has awarded Unisys Canada Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Unisys Corp., a contract to supply, integrate and manage a new identification management system, using fingerprint and iris biometric technology to verify the identities of airport workers at 29 airports throughout Canada.

¦ The US Navy has awarded General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems a five-year, $27 million contract for performance-based logistics support of mission computers in Navy F/A-18 Hornet and AV-8B Harrier aircraft. General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems is a business unit of General Dynamics. Work will be performed in Bloomington, Minn., and will include the repair of advanced mission computers developed by General Dynamics for the F/A-18E, F/A-18F and EA-18G model aircraft, and the mission systems computer developed by General Dynamics for the AV-8B.

¦ Skycooler, the cool container leasing company, confirms it has signed its first long-term leasing contract with British Airways. British Airways & Skycooler worked closely together to ensure that the certified SKYcooler units fulfilled the operational requirements for the air transportation of temperature-sensitive cargo.

People in the News

¦ United Airlines has appointed Pete McDonald as chief administrative officer and John Tague as chief operating officer. McDonald previously served as chief operating officer, and in his new position he will take on responsibility for corporate policy and strategy regarding customer and employee experience, technology, communications, safety and security. Tague will take on the role of chief operating officer, responsible for airport operations including cargo, maintenance and operational services, international and regulatory affairs; and planning, including scheduling and revenue management activities.

¦ DHL named Tony Shortell senior vice president for global customer solutions for the Singapore-based Asia-Pacific region. A 15-year company veteran, Shortell had been a regional senior vice president at DHL Global Forwarding for Asia-Pacific.

¦ Hydrogen Engine Center Inc. announced today that it has appointed Jan Rowinski, managing partner Bay Stream Ventures Inc., to the board of directors of HEC Canada with immediate effect.

¦ Swissport Cargo Services announced organizational changes. Mark Burgess joined Swissport Cargo Services as vice president west region. Hector Garcia joined the company as director of safety, and Rosie Martinez joined Swissport Cargo Services as director of security and asset protection.

¦ Lufthansa Cargo Charter, the charter division of Lufthansa, named Volker Dunkake head of global sales and services. LCC also named Simone Schweitzer head of finance and administration.

¦ Alaska Air Group named Joe Sprague as vice president of Alaska Air Cargo. Sprague, formerly staff vice president of in-flight services, joined Alaska Airlines in 2000 as regional sales director for Alaska.
