Maintenance Skills at Their Finest

Just a few weeks ago the AMT team was in Vegas watching many great mechanics work together as a team in the 2nd Annual AMTSociety Maintenance Skills Competition. I am happy to report the event was a great success! A big thanks to Maintenance Skills Competition chairman, Ken MacTiernan, and the rest of the AMTSociety board of directors for doing a great job setting up the competition and keeping everything so well organized.

A total of 15 teams participated, and more plan to next year. It’s a great event to showcase the skills and craftmanship of the aircraft maintenance industry.

Congratulations to our first place team winners: USAF McGuire AFB representing the military; Aviation Institute of Maintenance Atlanta Campus representing schools; Team Colorado Aeronautics Division representing general aviation; and Continental Airlines CLE representing the commercial airlines.

The AMTSociety golf tournament was also a big hit! With more golfers than the year prior and a beautiful — although windy — day at the Rio Secco, everyone had a great time supporting a good cause with great company.

I would like to thank all the sponsors who donated equipment, staff, and prizes to help make the AMTSociety program a great success and fun for everyone who participated. I know we all look forward to an even bigger and better event next year, be sure to mark those calendars, BlackBerries, and iPhones for March 16-18, 2010, in Vegas!

Until next time we’ll see you online: forums.AMTonline.com

Thanks for reading!
