Air Traffic Control

  • Video Solutions. Searidge Technologies, video solutions provider to air navigation service providers and airports, announced its intelligent video platform IntelliDAR is being utilized by NAV CANADA to develop innovative video technology applications for airport surface surveillance and remote monitoring. IntelliDAR is a Non-Cooperative Surveillance System (NCSS) that detects and tracks all targets on an airport surface. The system processes video from a series of video camera sensors networked together to provide a real-time geospatial positioning of all targets in a given area, delivered to controllers via a situational display; www.searidgetech.com.

Common-use

  • CREWS System. CREWS, developed by RESA, is a CUTE system for seamlessly sharing check-in and boarding positions and the associated peripherals among the various airlines present at the airport. Officially certified by IATA, CREWS CUPPS represents the next generation of “common use” systems. The system allows airport resources to be shared among all airlines operating on the airport platform. In addition to consequent incomes generated by the solution, CREWS CUPPS is also a strategic software platform which maximizes the number of passengers by making the installation of new airlines easier, according to the company; www.resa.aero.

Communications

  • Virtual Service Desk. ARINC introduces a locally-based IT service management program for airports. The ARINC Virtual Service Desk solution provides interested airports with local language support and the option for ARINC Managed Services to perform “first-level” resolution. Virtual Service Desk offers airports the same level of back-end support as ARINC’s global IT service desk programs, but avoids the language barriers that may occur when dealing with international situations. The new system has been piloted successfully at two major airports in Detroit and Singapore since early 2008, says the company; www.arinc.com
  • Television Network. The Rogue Valley International-Medford Airport (MFR) announces the start of ProDIGIQ’s Airport Television Network. ProDIGIQ’s technology shows relevant TV programming and real-time flight information to passengers using MFR. It is the first airport in the state of Oregon to deploy the technology. MFR chose ProDIGIQ to enhance the passenger experience and to offer an added level of customer service; www.prodigiq.com.

Detection Solutions

  • Radiation Detection. ICx Technologies, Inc announces that it has completed the initial portion of the radiation detection testing as part of the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (DNDO) International Commercial Aviation Passenger and Baggage (Pax/Bag) Pilot program. As part of this field test, multiple Stride detection units were installed at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in order to monitor passengers and carry-on luggage for the presence of illicit radioactive material. Stride systems provide complete ‘out-of-the-box’ radiation detection, identification, and localization functionality and can be tailored for diverse and unique security requirements, says the company; www.icxt.com.
  • Explosives Detection. L-3 Security & Detection Systems announces that it has received orders for more than $45 million from the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and a $2.8 million order from the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) for eXaminer 3DX explosives detection systems (EDS). • Surveillance. Infinova announces that, as part of a $63.1 million construction project, Uzbekistan’s Navoi Airport is installing Infinova PTZ and Day/Night high-resolution cameras to watch over one of Central Asia’s newest Free Industrial Economic Zones (FIEZ). The FIEZ is located 1.8 km from the cargo terminal of Navoi Airport, where the cameras are located, and connected to international railway routes feeding Europe (via Russia), South Asia (via China), the Middle East, and the Gulf (via Iran).
  • Jammer System. Kirintec’s REBUS counter-IED inhibition system is designed primarily for use by First Responders who find a suspect device and want to neutralize the threat while they wait for the Bomb Squad to arrive; all normal communications in the near vicinity remain unaffected by the jammer.
