Highlights From the Trade Show Floor

Technology and security firms seemed to dominate this year’s exhibition hall at AAAE’s 82nd annual conference. Following are some highlights:

• SITA’s Mobile Workforce Solution. Enables airlines, airports and airport-based service providers to cost-effectively mobilize their business processes. SITA provides data communication and managed devices to efficiently bridge mobile workers and devices with back-end systems and business applications.

Based on SITA’s partnership with Appear Networks, whose enterprise platform is already deployed for more than 10,000 mobile workers, Mobile Workforce enables real-time location tracking through global airport wireless connectivity.

Mobile Workforce provides end-to-end expertise in the design implementation and management of air transport business processes, such as: remote ground equipment management; airport handling management; fueling / weight and balance management; check-in and boarding; security and biometrics; baggage management; etc.

SITA will showcase the Mobile Workforce solution at the Air Transport IT Summit held in Brussels, Belgium June 23-24.

• Schneider Electric’s Integrated Security Solutions. Includes digital video management for a more secure and responsive environment, according to the company. Schneider offers a full suite of video management solutions that allow operators to view live or recorded video on demand for any alarm or event and quickly pinpoint potential security breaches.

Schneider’s video surveillance and analytics capabilities feature fully integrated video security which automatically displays video per alarm or event at the command center. Schneider Electric also provides security solutions with regard to access control and intrusion detection.

• Cogent Systems’ Biometric Identification Solutions. BioTrust log-on replacement software replaces traditional username and password log-on with facial or fingerprint biometric identification technology. The BioTrust console allows users to customize security settings, enroll facial/fingerprint images, and manage Web SSO (single sign-on) subscriptions.

Cogent also offers the Smart-Gate solution, a two factor verification device combining a contactless smart card and biometric fingerprint technology. A biometric template is stored on a standard contactless smart card and provides one-to-one identity verification while protecting the user’s private information.

• Door Control Services. Provides automatic door solutions for exit lane security breach control. The ELS 8000 Exit Lane Security Revolving Door allows a high volume of passengers to exit from the secure to the non-secure side of a passenger terminal and prevents re-entry to the secure side. An advanced network of sensors is capable of detecting objects placed anywhere inside the perimeter of the door, preventing object passage to the secure side.

• Argus’ Command Space. Suite of solutions includes surveillance systems that provide fully integrated wide-area surveillance for perimeter and border security. The stand-alone solution is available with perimeter surveillance radar and thermal imaging camera options designed for short and medium-range detection.

• Crisplant’s RampMate. For automated hands-free management of bulk baggage, provides the 100 percent track and trace of each bag through the entire process combined with handheld PDAs for operators on the ramp. The system bridges the gap in traditional baggage handling by automating the make-up process for outbound baggage, and the input process for inbound baggage; human interaction with the baggage is consequently reduced, says the company.

The system offers inherited reconciliation and facilitates late retrieval of bags that are not allowed for loading to the flight.
